CONDITIONS FOR ADOPTING A DOG
(The Conditions for adopting a cat are very similar)
We now carry out home visits and adoption questionnaires on all homes in the Bolton and district areas (dogs only)
Before you take your pet home you will be asked to sign the following undertakings

  • TO NOT PART WITH POSSESSION OF THE DOG EXCEPT TO RETURN IT TO THE DESTITUTE ANIMAL SHELTER.
  • To provide qualified veterinary treatment in cases of injury or illness and ensure that annual vaccination boosters are carried out.
  • To notify the Destitute Animal Shelter, the local Police Station and any other relevant agencies within 24 hours should the dog become lost or missing.
  • To ensure that the dog is wearing clear identification at ALL times. Is kept under control and is not allowed to stray.
  • To allow the Destitute Animal Shelter to repossess the dog if in their opinion the terms of this adoption are not being reasonably adhered to or the dog is not being cared for in a proper manner.
  • To keep the dog only as a personal pet and not use it for breeding trading or guarding purposes.
  • To have the dog neutered if it has not already been done. Failure to do this will result in a cancellation of this adoption i.e. the dog will be repossessed.
  • To take responsibility for any nuisance damage or injury the dog may cause.

I AM AWARE THAT THE DOG IS A STRAY OR UNWANTED ANIMAL AND THAT NO BLAME SHALL REST WITH THE DESTITUTE ANIMAL SHELTER SHOULD THE DOG BE ILL OR UNSUITABLE. I AGREE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL VETERINARY CARE AND COSTS AFTER THE DATE OF ADOPTION EXCEPT WHERE VOUCHERS HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO ME. I UNDERSTAND THAT IF I RETURN THE DOG TO THE ANIMAL SHELTER THAT MY DONATION IS NOT REFUNDABLE.
